Grade 11's need to fully understand, identify and write all of the grade 10 list, plus recognize and experiment writing with:

Assignments:
First, be sure you have looked at the links from the first Poetry page, and from the second page of powerpoints and youtubes, so you have good examples of each of the poetic devices. If you need to see more examples, search them specifically on the internet.

1. Worksheet-Figurative Language Definitions
2. Worksheet- Identifying figurative language #2. Click on this link to download, or pick up in the class.
3. Poetry Collection- Research and copy, in handwriting only, 3 poems that you like. After each poem, with 2-3 sentences, describe what you like about it. Be specific! (Don't say something like "It's nice.")
4. Quest Item Poetry- If you have not done it with us in class, you will need to do it from the website and links provided here. This link will direct you to the teacher's site, that gives the entire lesson plan steps, handouts, links and many examples. Follow the steps carefully. You can download and print the handouts, or come to class to pick them up. In the end you will need to hand in:
a. Sketching page that was done with the Greek God story.
b. poem planning sheet- done as completely as possible. This is the brainstorming sheet that provides you with vocabulary and ideas for your poem.
c. rough copy of your poem on loose leaf (with scratches, arrows and other revision marks)
d. final copy of your Quest Item Poem, either neatly handwritten or typed.
e. Don't forget a good title.
