The Opinion Essay (for Grade 10's)
This essay does not require any research unless you want to. However, you still need to support your opinion with facts, examples, anecdotes, proof or elaboration.
Follow the general essay pattern:

Body Paragraph #1- transition word/phrase, topic sentence stating first main point clearly, detail #1 followed by support for that detail, detail #2 plus support, detail #3 plus support, closing sentence
Body Paragraph #2- transition word/phrase, topic sentence stating second main point clearly, detail #1 followed by support for that detail, detail #2 plus support, detail #3 plus support, closing sentence
Body Paragraph #3- transition word/phrase, topic sentence stating third main point clearly, detail #1 followed by support for that detail, detail #2 plus support, detail #3 plus support, closing sentence
Closing paragraph- transition word/phrase, restate thesis/opinion, review main points, closing sentence ending with a clincher, or call to action
